W-o-w. There really aren’t words... the city of Savannah is incredibly lucky to now be the home of the outstanding development that is Plant Riverside District.
The magnitude of all that Plant Riverside is, is truly hard to put into words. So, the organizer is me says... “let’s break it into categories”! Haha!
Starting with atmosphere. Plant Riverside seriously has something for EVERYONE. The atmosphere is fun and extremely family-friendly! The best way to put it... it feels like you’re on vacation! From the constant live entertainment, to the museum-like lobby laden with geodes and dinosaurs, you will be taken aback by all that PRD has to offer. It is truly one-of-a-kind, certainly nothing like anywhere I’ve ever been before!
Okay... arguably the most important category... food and beverage!
Ohh boy. If the resort-like atmosphere didn’t make you feel like you were already on a 5-star vacation then the food and drinks certainly will!
Each restaurant at PRD is unique and the food is exquisite. As mentioned previously, there is something for EVERYONE. If you’re looking for fancy fine-dining, Stone & Webster Chophouse. If you’re looking for unique small bites, Baobab African Lounge. Modern shareables?? Electric Moon Skytop Lounge! Authentic Italian cuisine and pizza, Graffito’s for sure! The list goes on and on, there are over 10 eating establishments at Plant Riverside and each one has absolutely awesome food and drinks!
For the next category... we’ll call this
“Niki’s ideal day at Plant Riverside.”
This is exactly how I would spend a day at PRD from morning to night:
To start, we’d grab a latte at the on-site Starbucks and enjoy the riverfront views after waking up early for morning yoga on the rooftop of Electric Moon!
Next, we’d wander the streets of Savannah until ending up back at PRD for lunch where we would then grab oysters and low-country inspired cuisine at District Seafood. Yum!
For the remainder of the afternoon, we would check out the shops and galleries that PRD has to offer and enjoy some shopping by the water! Maybe even do the interactive tour! A great way to learn more about the property!
(If you have kids- definitely check out the “The Ultimate Dinosaur Adventure”.) So fun!
Next, we’d head outside to check out the live entertainment for the night. Check the Plant Riverside website for the times for their Savannah Cirque show, live music, and Riverside fountain show!
After catching some solid entertainment, we’d head up to Myrtle & Rose Rooftop Garden for a “Ginger Lily” (my fave drink in all of Savannah) and enjoy the bridge views and sounds of Savannah coming to live for the evening.
Once we feel our bellies rumble again, we’d wander over to Electric Moon for their eclectic small bites. I can’t resist the “pork belly bao buns!” Absolutely delicious plus... THE VIEW!
If we were still hungry, we’d grab a seat at the Stone & Webster Chophouse for an incredible full dinner fine dining experience to round out our day at Plant Riverside. Before leaving, we’d likely find a seat to listen in on the live piano player before calling it a night and heading home with full bellies and spirits high knowing we can come back the very next day if we want! Lucky us.
Hear from some other local bloggers and their thoughts on Plant Riverside below! ⤵️
“Staying at the JW Marriott is the ultimate way to spend a weekend in Sav! We’re locals and we choose to spend so much time at this property every week because of how much the JW offers. It’s the kind of place that you can spend allll day at and still not even have seen half of everything! It’s clear to see how much the JW has invested in our little community! We are all so thankful they’re here. Because of them, we have so many new dining options (SEVEN new places to eat, including 2 rooftop bars!!!) and we’ll have a new event venue in the coming months. Not to mention they did Savannah a favor and extended the beautiful river street! We get Cirque performers and live music weekly now, yay!” -@samanthainsavannah on Instagram, local food blogger
“Plant Riverside is a fantastic resort that’s unlike anything Savannah has seen. They have something for everyone from food and drink to entertainment to art. It’s a must stop whether you’re visiting or local.” -@Cantbelieveimnotfat on Instagram, local food blogger
